Normal, oily or dry? It is important. At any age, the skin needs protection, nutrition, hydration and cleansing. The appropriate procedures and products are selected depending on the skin type. Otherwise, the effect may be blurred or not achieved at all. How to determine your skin type correctly, this article will tell.
How to determine your skin type at home
Depending on the fat content, cosmetologists divide the types of facial skin into 3 types: normal, oily and dry. To determine your own, it is enough to pick up a mirror and carefully examine yourself.
Normal skin
Normal skin is well hydrated and lubricated. It is clean, smooth, and has an even matte colour. It almost does not show pores, wrinkles, blackheads, blackheads. Simply put, it is the ideal skin type and requires minimal maintenance. There are usually fewer problems with it than with oily or dry ones. But women with normal skin types are rare. The other two are much more widespread.
Dry
Dry skin is very tender, elastic and thin, often with a beautiful natural glow. But wrinkles are more visible on it, with improper care, dry skin ages early. This type is found mainly in blondes with light eyes, less often in brunettes.
It is important to protect dry skin from the sun. Under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, dry skin quickly loses moisture, dehydrates, becomes thinner, fine wrinkles appear around the eyes, especially if a woman has a habit of squinting.
In winter and summer, this skin needs special care. In the sun, owners of this type should not appear without a protective cream with SPF. In summer and spring, on weekdays, the most common products with a medium or high degree of protection (SPF from 4 to 15) are suitable. Forgoing to the beach or for a long walk, it is safer to use intensive protective equipment (SPF 25-30).
In cold, windy weather, dry skin suffers even more: it dries up, flakes, sometimes even cracks appear on it. In winter, it is recommended to apply a greasy nourishing cream and try to be in the wind in open spaces as little and less often.
Bold
Oily skin stands out a little against the background of other types - it is immediately visible. It is excessively shiny due to increased secretion of the sebaceous glands, has a greyish tint, is often prone to acne, blackheads, and may have large enlarged pores. Up close, it often resembles an orange peel.
But oily skin has its advantages - wrinkles appear on it much later. In addition, it tolerates various atmospheric influences more easily - it is not so afraid of the sun and wind as the sensitive dry one.
If oily skin begins to peel off, it means that it has not been properly looked after. You should reconsider your habits, acquire new means (in accordance with your type). The same applies to acne, blackheads, and comedones. They can appear against the background of pregnancy or illness, due to stress, unbalanced diet, or improper skincare. You cannot treat them yourself, you need to see a doctor.
Combined or mixed
Mixed - combines the characteristics of oily and dry. This is a fairly common type. Oily skin is more common on the forehead, nose and chin, and dry skin around the eyes and on the cheeks.
Knowing your skin type makes it easier to find nourishing, moisturizing, and exfoliating products (based on age). For example, creams and masks. But if you have problem with skin - too dry and irritated or oily and prone to acne, only a dermatologist or cosmetologist can prescribe proper care.
Also, do not forget that the beauty of the skin largely depends on the general condition of the body, therefore, facial skincare cannot be something isolated. It is necessary to take care of health promotion. Observe the daily routine, do not forget about hygiene and sports, eat right and sleep for at least 7-9 hours.
